Parking

~1min read

Proceed as follows:

  • Switch off the engine and apply the handbrake;
  • Engage a gear (1st gear when parked uphill and reverse when parked downhill) and leave the wheels turned.

If the vehicle is parked on a very steep slope, block the wheels with wedges or stones. The ignition key should not be left in MAR (ON), otherwise the battery could be discharged.

Always remove the key when leaving the vehicle.

Handbrake

The handbrake lever is located between the front seats.

To apply the handbrake, pull the lever up until the vehicle is locked.

Normally four or five notches are sufficient on level ground, whereas nine or ten notches are required on very steep gradients or with a loaded vehicle.

Note: If the handbrake does not work, contact the Fiat service network for adjustment.

On vehicles with a front armrest, this must be raised fully so that it does not obstruct operation of the handbrake lever.

Note

Never leave children alone and unattended in the vehicle; when leaving the vehicle, always remove the key from the starter and take it with you.

Handbremse

With the handbrake applied and the ignition key in MAR (ON), the warning lamp on the instrument panel lights up.

To release the handbrake:

  • Lift the lever slightly and press the release button A-fig. 1;
  • Keep button A pressed and lower the lever. The warning lamp
    on the instrument panel goes out.

To avoid unintended movement of the vehicle, carry out this procedure with the brake pedal pressed.
