Warming up the engine after starting (petrol and diesel)
In this manual: Starting and driving

Proceed as follows:
- Drive off slowly, at medium engine speeds and without accelerating hard;
- Avoid demanding maximum performance from the vehicle during the first kilometres. It is advisable to wait until the needle of the coolant temperature gauge starts to move.
If the warning light
on the
instrument panel (or the symbol on the display) stays on continuously, contact the Fiat service network.
With the engine idling, turn the ignition key to STOP.
Note: After a demanding journey, it is better to let the engine "cool down" at idle before switching it off, so that the temperature under the bonnet can drop.
Starting the engine by pushing, towing or using a downhill slope must be avoided at all costs. This would allow fuel to enter the catalytic converter and irreparably damage it.
NoteUntil the engine starts, neither the brake servo nor the power steering works. The force required on the brake pedal and steering wheel is therefore much greater than normal.
Revving the engine before switching it off is pointless, wastes fuel and is especially harmful to engines with a turbocharger.
