The main causes of corrosion are:
- Air pollution;
- Salty and humid air (coastal areas, hot and humid climates);
- Seasonal environmental conditions.
Furthermore, the abrasive effect of dust in the air, sand blown by the wind, and dirt and gravel thrown up by other vehicles must not be underestimated.
FIAT has applied the best technological solutions to the vehicle to effectively protect the bodywork against corrosion.
The most important of these are:
- Products and paint systems that give the vehicle особая resistance to corrosion and abrasion;
- Use of galvanised (or pre-treated) sheet metal with high resistance to corrosion;
- Spray treatment with wax-based products with high protective effect on the underbody, in the engine compartment, in wheel arches and on other components;
- Spray application of plastic-based protective products on the areas most exposed to corrosion: door sills, inner sides of wings, edges, etc.;
- Use of 'open' cavities to prevent condensation and water accumulation, which would promote internal rust formation.
The vehicle is covered by a warranty against perforation (rust-through) of any original body or bodywork part.
For the general terms of this warranty, please refer to the warranty booklet.
