CAUTION

If the ambient temperature is below -20ºC, switch on the ignition for at least one second before starting the engine.

This will build up the maximum fuel pressure required to start the engine.

Manual transmission vehicles

Note: Do not press the accelerator pedal.

  1. Fully depress the clutch pedal.
  2. Start the engine.
  3. If the engine does not start, fully depress the brake and clutch pedals and try again.

Vehicles with automatic transmission

Note: Do not press the accelerator pedal.

  1. Select park or neutral.
  2. Fully depress the brake pedal.
  3. Start the engine.

Vehicles with automatic transmission

Note: Do not press the accelerator pedal.

  1. Select park or neutral.
  2. Fully depress the brake pedal.
  3. Start the engine.

All vehicles

If the engine does not start within 15 seconds, wait briefly and try again.

If the engine does not start after three attempts, wait 10 seconds, then follow the instructions under Flooded engine.

If you have difficulty starting the engine at ambient temperatures below -25ºC, press the accelerator pedal ¼ to ½ of its full travel and try again.
