Regional Mode (REG)

~1min read

Regional mode (REG) controls switching between alternative frequencies of regional networks belonging to one main broadcaster. A single broadcaster may have a large network covering much of the country. At different times of day, this large network may be divided into several smaller regional networks, usually located in larger cities. When it is not divided into regional networks, the same programme is broadcast across the whole network.

Regional mode on: Prevents accidental switching to alternative frequencies if neighbouring regional networks are not broadcasting the same programme.

Regional mode off: Allows coverage over a wider area if neighbouring regional networks broadcast the same programme, but may cause accidental switching to alternative frequencies if they are not broadcasting the same programme.
