The engine immobilizer system is deactivated automatically when the ignition is switched on with a correctly coded key.

The warning light in the instrument cluster will come on for about three seconds, then go out. If the light stays on continuously for one minute, or flashes for about one minute and then blinks at irregular intervals, the system has not recognized the key code.

In that case, remove the key, then try again.

If you cannot start the engine with a correctly coded key, there is a fault. Have the engine immobilizer system checked immediately by an Authorized Ford Dealer.
