CAUTION

Using the system with the engine off will drain the battery.

The speech recognition system allows you to control the system without taking your attention off the road to change settings or obtain information from the system.

Whenever you speak one of the defined commands while the system is active, the speech recognition system converts your command into a control signal for the system. Your guidance takes the form of dialogues or commands. You are guided through these dialogues by information or questions.

Please familiarize yourself with the system's functions before using the speech recognition system.

Range of commands

The voice control system allows you to control the following vehicle functions:

Bluetooth phone

  • radio
  • CD player
  • external device (USB)
  • external device (iPod)
  • automatic climate control heating, ventilation and air conditioning

System response

During a voice control session, the system will indicate that it is ready to continue with audible signals.

Do not try to give commands until an audible signal sounds. The voice control system will repeat each voice command you give.

If you are unsure how to proceed, say "HELP" or "CANCEL" if you do not want to continue.

The "HELP" function only includes a list of the available voice commands.

For detailed explanations of all possible voice commands, refer to the later part of this manual.

Voice commands

Give all voice commands in a natural tone of voice, as if speaking to a passenger or on the phone. The volume of your commands should depend on the ambient noise level, inside or outside the vehicle, but do not shout.
