For instructions on how to properly use child safety devices, refer to the following sections.
Child Safety Restraint Recommendations
It is required by law to properly use child restraints for infants and toddlers in the U.S. and Canada.
Many states and provinces require that small children use an approved booster seat until they reach eight years of age, 57 inches (1.45 m) in height or 80 lbs (36 kg). Check your local, state or provincial laws for specific child safety requirements in your vehicle.
Whenever possible, properly restrain children 12 years of age and under in the rear seat of your vehicle. Accident statistics show that children are safer when properly secured in rear seats than in the front seat.
When installing a rear-facing child restraint, adjust the vehicle seats so that the child restraint does not contact the vehicle seat in front of it.
