Post-Crash Alert System. Vehicle Towing

~1min read

Post-Crash Alert System

The system flashes the turn signals and sounds the horn (intermittently) in the event of a severe impact that deploys an airbag (front, side, side curtain or pedestrian protection) or the seatbelt pretensioners.

The horn and indicators turn off when:

  • You press the hazard control button.
  • Press the panic button on the remote keyless entry transmitter (if equipped).
  • Your vehicle loses power.
  • The siren feature is only active in certain markets.

Towing the Vehicle

Ford Fusion. Post-Crash Alert System. Transporting the Vehicle

If you need to tow your vehicle, contact a professional towing service or, if you are a member of a roadside assistance program, your roadside assistance provider.

We recommend using a wheel lift and dolly or flatbed equipment to tow the vehicle. Do not tow with a sling-type strap. Ford Motor Company has not approved sling-type strap towing. Vehicle damage may occur if towed improperly or by any other method.

Ford Motor Company produces a towing guide for all authorized towing operators. Have your towing operator refer to this guide for proper connection and towing procedures for your vehicle. It is permissible to tow a front-wheel drive vehicle forward if proper wheel lift equipment is used to lift the front wheels off the ground. When towing in this manner, the rear wheels may remain on the ground.

Front-wheel drive vehicles must have the front wheels placed on a dolly when towing the vehicle backward with wheel lift equipment. This prevents transmission damage.

Towing an all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive vehicle requires that all wheels be off the ground, for example, by using a wheel lift and dolly or flatbed equipment. This prevents damage to the transmission, all wheels or the all-wheel drive system and vehicle.
