Airbag passager

The airbag deploys in a severe frontal collision or in collisions up to 30 degrees to the left or right. The airbag inflates in a few thousandths of a second and deflates on contact with the occupant, cushioning forward movement. The airbag does not deploy in minor frontal, side or rear collisions, or in rollovers.

Deactivating the Passenger Airbag

WARNING

You must deactivate the passenger airbag when installing a rear-facing child seat on the front passenger seat.

Never install a rear-facing child seat on a seat protected by an active front airbag. This could result in serious injury or death to the child.

Turn the switch to the A position.

When you turn the ignition on, check that the passenger airbag deactivation indicator illuminates.

Note: the key switch is located at the end of the instrument panel, on the passenger side, and the airbag deactivation warning indicator is located on the center console.

Activating the Passenger Airbag

WARNING

You must activate the passenger airbag when you are not using a rear-facing child seat on the front passenger seat. Failure to follow this warning could result in serious personal injury or death.

Turn the switch to the B position.

When you turn the ignition on, check that the passenger airbag deactivation indicator does not illuminate.
