Park on a fairly steep hill with the vehicle facing downhill. Keep your foot on the service brake and apply the parking brake.

  • To check the parking brake holding ability: With the engine running and the transmission in N (Neutral), slowly release the service brake pedal. Continue until the vehicle is held only by the parking brake.
  • To check the P (Park) mechanism holding ability: With the engine running, shift to P (Park). Then release the parking brake, followed by the service brake.
