Prohibited Fuels (Gasoline)

~1min read
  • For vehicles not designed for Flex Fuel, fuel labeled with more than 15% ethanol by volume, such as intermediate ethanol blends (16–50% ethanol), E85, or Flex Fuel.
  • Fuel containing any amount of methanol, methyl alcohol, ferrocene, and aniline. These fuels may corrode metal parts of the fuel system or damage plastic and rubber parts.
  • Fuel containing metals such as methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT), which may damage the emission control system and spark plugs.
  • Fuel with a posted octane rating lower than the recommended fuel. Using this fuel will reduce fuel economy and performance, and may shorten the life of the emission control catalyst.
