Anti-theft alarm system
The anti-theft alarm system helps prevent theft of the vehicle or of valuables from the passenger compartment and cargo area. If an unauthorized entry into the vehicle or removal of the audio system is attempted, the horn sounds and the turn signal indicators begin to flash. The horn sounds for 30 seconds, after which the alarm system returns to standby mode.
If the cause of the alarm activation is not eliminated, the horn will sound approximately every 5 seconds.
To turn off the activated system before the 30 seconds have elapsed, unlock one of the front doors using the key or the remote keyless entry transmitter.

On vehicles equipped with an ultrasonic sensor: The alarm system can only be deactivated using the remote transmitter. When the driver's door lock is unlocked with the key, the alarm will sound, because the security system is not deactivated.
The security alarm system arms the vehicle 15 seconds (25 seconds on vehicles equipped with the ultrasonic sensor, if activated) after the door, hood and liftgate locks are locked. To activate the security alarm system, lock the door locks from outside the vehicle using the key or remote transmitter. The security indicator on the instrument panel will start flashing immediately, confirming that the vehicle is armed.
To activate the ultrasonic sensors together with the security alarm system, lock all doors, including the liftgate, using the key or remote transmitter.
When locking the doors with the key or remote transmitter, all turn signal lamps and the turn signal indicators on the instrument panel will flash three times, confirming that the locks are locked and the security alarm system is activated. When unlocking the doors, these lamps will flash once.
The security alarm system also arms the vehicle when the doors and liftgate are locked using the lock button on the driver's door or the master power door lock switch.
After the vehicle is armed, opening any vehicle door (without using the key or remote transmitter), the liftgate or the hood will trigger the alarm. The audible alarm also activates if the audio system is removed from its slot in the instrument panel or if its wiring is cut.
In addition, the security alarm is triggered if a passenger remaining in the locked vehicle attempts to turn the ignition switch on.
For vehicles equipped with the dual door lock system: If you have activated the dual lock system and the security alarm system, the security alarm will not be triggered if a passenger opens a door from inside using the door lock button or the master power door lock switch.
The security alarm will not arm the vehicle if the liftgate, hood or any door is not fully closed. If the system did not arm the vehicle, turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position and check that the indicators on the multifunction display light up. Close all doors and the liftgate that are shown as open on the instrument panel. Since the open hood status is not shown on the instrument panel, inspect it and make sure it is securely closed.
Do not attempt to modify or add to this system or any related devices.
Ultrasonic Sensors

The ultrasonic sensors start operating only after the vehicle security alarm system is activated using the key or remote transmitter. The sensors monitor the vehicle interior and trigger the alarm if someone enters the vehicle through a window or if movement is detected inside the vehicle.
If you activate the security alarm system with the windows open, the ultrasonic sensors may react to strong vibration or loud noise and trigger the alarm.
You can activate the security alarm system without activating the ultrasonic sensor. To do this, pull the outside handle of the driver's door and pull back the lock button. Release the door handle and close the door. The security system indicator will light up for 3 seconds, then switch to flashing mode.
Regardless of whether the ultrasonic sensor is activated or not, the security alarm system can only be deactivated using the remote transmitter, not the key.
