Parking Assist System
Your vehicle is equipped with a Parking Sensor System. This system informs you of the approximate distance from the vehicle to most obstacles when parking. When the system is on and the vehicle approaches an obstacle, a beep sounds and the sensor readings appear on the multi-information display.
To turn the system on, press the system switch on the control panel with the ignition on. The system indicator comes on when the system is activated, and a beep sounds. To turn the system off, press the switch again.
Before you start driving, make sure the indicator built into the switch is on. If it is not on, the Parking Sensor System is not activated.

If the parking brake is applied (vehicles with manual transmission) or the shift lever is in P (Park) (vehicles with automatic transmission), the Parking Sensor System will not activate even if the ignition switch is in the ON (II) position.
The system may not detect some obstacles. Even with the system on, drive carefully and watch for possible obstacles to ensure safe parking.

The system has two front corner sensors, two rear corner sensors, and two center rear sensors. The center rear sensors operate when reverse is selected, provided the vehicle speed is below 8 km/h.
The side sensors operate only when a gear is selected (except P (Park) on vehicles with automatic transmission), provided the vehicle speed is below 8 km/h.
Short Beeps and Multi-Information Display Indicators
When the system is turned on, one short beep sounds.
If the system detects an obstacle, short beeps sound and the corresponding indicators come on as shown in the table below.
Corner Sensor Operation
Example: An obstacle is located to the front left of the vehicle.

Center Rear Sensor Operation

If a system malfunction occurs, all indicators on the multi-information display will come on. The indicators may be accompanied by the message "CHECK SYSTEM", and short beeps will sound continuously.
This is often caused by dirt or snow on a sensor. First, check the sensors. If the indicators and the beep do not turn off, have your vehicle checked by your dealer.
If a sensor malfunctions, the corresponding indicator will stay on steadily. In this case, the other sensors will continue to operate normally.
If the Parking Sensor System malfunctions and/or a continuous beep sounds, you can temporarily turn off the system and stop the beep. To do so, press the Parking Sensor System switch.

The detection range of the center rear and side sensors is limited. The corner sensors can detect obstacles located 50 cm (20 in.) or less from the vehicle.

The center rear sensors can detect obstacles located 1.8 m (6 ft.) or less from the vehicle.
Do not place any accessories on or around the sensors.
The Parking Sensor System may not work or may work incorrectly in the following cases:
• A sensor is dirty or covered with mud, snow, etc.
• Driving on rough terrain, grass, or uphill slopes.
• After the vehicle has been parked for a long time in hot or cold weather.
• Interference from devices or equipment that generate ultrasonic waves.
• In adverse weather conditions.
The system may not detect low or thin objects, or materials that absorb ultrasonic waves, such as snow, cotton, or sponge.
The system cannot detect objects located directly below the bumper.
Installing a trailer hitch may cause the warning chime to sound when the parking assist system is activated.
Do not activate the parking assist system while towing a trailer. A trailer located behind the vehicle will cause the warning chime to sound.
