Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) System

Hyundai Elantra. Warning and System Control

If a vehicle is detected within the system's detection zone, the warning light will illuminate on the outside rearview mirror.

If the detected vehicle is no longer in the blind spot, the warning turns off depending on driving conditions.

Second-Stage Warning

The warning chime to alert the driver sounds when:

1. The radar system detects a vehicle in the blind spot AND,

2. The turn signal is turned on (on the same side where the vehicle is detected). When this warning is activated, the warning light on the outside rearview mirror illuminates. It will also flash, and a warning chime will sound.

If you turn off the turn signal indicator, the second-stage warning is deactivated. If the detected vehicle is no longer in the blind spot, the warning turns off depending on driving conditions.

WARNING

  • The warning light on the outside rearview mirror illuminates whenever the system detects a vehicle behind. To avoid accidents, do not focus only on the warning light and neglect to check the vehicle surroundings.
  • Drive safely even if the vehicle is equipped with the Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) system. Do not rely only on the system; check your surroundings before changing lanes or reversing the vehicle.
  • The system may not warn the driver in some situations due to system limitations, so always check your surroundings while driving.

CAUTION

  • While driving, always pay attention to road and traffic conditions, whether or not the warning light on the outside rearview mirror is illuminated or a warning chime sounds.
  • Playing the vehicle audio system at high volume may prevent passengers from hearing the warning sounds of the Blind-Spot Collision Warning system.
  • If another warning sound, such as the unbuckled seat belt chime, is already sounding, the Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) system warning may not sound.
