Warning Lamp Activation

Warning Lamp Behavior After Ignition ON

As soon as operating voltage is supplied to the SRSCM ignition input, the SRSCM activates the warning lamp for the LED lamp check. The lamp should illuminate for 6 seconds during the initialization phase and then turn off. To alert the driver, the warning lamp should illuminate for 6 seconds, turn off for 1 second, and then remain on continuously after the initialization. Voltage is supplied if any active malfunction is present.
  1. The active fault counter or historical fault counter is greater than or equal to 10.
  2. The normal or historical fault counter is less than 10.
  3. When the ignition is turned on during End-of-Line (EOL) variant coding, the airbag warning lamp illuminates and flashes periodically at 1-second intervals until coding is complete. If the variant code is completed normally, the airbag warning lamp illuminates for 6 seconds and then turns off. Otherwise, the airbag warning lamp flashes continuously at 1-second intervals.
    1. If variant coding is completed normally
    2. If variant coding is not completed.
If an active fault is present in the airbag system or an internal SRSCM fault exists, End-of-Line (EOL) variant coding cannot be completed. In this case, repeat the End-of-Line (EOL) variant coding procedure after troubleshooting with GDS.
  4. SRSCM battery power loss: The warning lamp remains on continuously.
  5. Loss of internal operating voltage: warning lamp remains on continuously.
  6. Microprocessor malfunction: The warning lamp remains on continuously.
  7. SRSCM not connected: warning lamp remains on continuously.
Independent Activation of the SRSCM Warning Lamp. Certain failure conditions exist under which the SRSCM cannot function and therefore cannot control the operation of the standard warning lamp. In these cases, the standard warning lamp is activated directly by the corresponding circuit, which operates independently of the SRSCM. These cases are: Warning Lamp Activation. The warning lamp indicates the passenger airbag (PAB) on and off status depending on the status of the passenger in the passenger seat. If the passenger seat is empty or occupied by a child (or child seat), the passenger airbag is deactivated and the warning lamp illuminates to inform the driver that the PAB is deactivated. As soon as operating voltage is supplied to the SRSCM ignition input, the SRSCM activates the warning lamp to verify. The OCS will send the default defect status to the SRSCM for the passenger airbag deployment setting during the test period. The occupant status and warning lamp status are shown in the table below.
Occupant Status Warning Lamp PAB
Empty ON Underweight
Child
(Small Occupant)
ON Underweight
Adult
(Large Occupant)
OFF Enabled
Defect OFF Enabled

After the ignition is turned on, the warning lamp illuminates for 4 seconds and turns off for 4 seconds during the initialization phase, and remains on or off thereafter until the first valid suppression message is received from the OCS system.
