Electric Power Steering (EPS)
The system assists you in steering the vehicle. If the engine is off or if the power steering system becomes inoperative, you can still steer the vehicle, but more steering effort will be required.
If you notice any change in the steering effort required during normal vehicle operation, it is recommended that the system be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
CAUTION
If the Electric Power Steering system does not operate normally, the warning light (
) will illuminate on the instrument cluster. The steering wheel will require increased effort. Take your vehicle to an authorized HYUNDAI dealer and have the system inspected as soon as possible.
✽ NOTICE
The following symptoms may occur during normal vehicle operation:
- Steering effort may be heavy immediately after placing the Engine Start/Stop button in the ON position. This occurs while the system performs the EPS system diagnostics. When the diagnostics are complete, the steering will return to normal.
- A clicking sound may be heard from the EPS relay after the Engine Start/Stop button is in the ON or OFF position.
- A motor noise may be heard when the vehicle is parked or moving at low speed.
- When you operate the steering wheel at low temperature, an abnormal noise may occur. If the temperature rises, the noise will disappear. This is a normal condition.
