Hood Opening

1. Park the vehicle and set the parking brake.

2. Pull the hood release lever to unlatch the hood. The hood should pop up slightly.

3. Slightly lift the hood, push the secondary latch up (1) inside the center of the hood, and lift the hood (2). Once it has been raised about halfway, it will rise fully on its own.

Hood Closing

1. Before closing the hood, check the following:

• All engine compartment filler caps must be installed correctly.
• Gloves, rags, or any other flammable materials must be removed from the engine compartment.

2. Lower the hood halfway, then press down to securely latch it in place. Then check twice to make sure the hood is secure.

WARNING

• Before closing the hood, make sure all obstacles are cleared from around the hood opening.
• Always check twice to make sure the hood is securely latched before driving. If it is not latched, the hood may open while the vehicle is moving, causing a complete loss of visibility that may lead to an accident.
• Do not drive the vehicle with the hood in the raised position, as visibility is obstructed, which may lead to an accident, and the hood may fall or be damaged.
