Power Windows

~2min read

The Engine Start/Stop button must be in the ON position to raise or lower the windows. Each door has a power window switch to control the window of that door. The driver has a power window lock switch that can disable the passenger windows. Power windows will operate for about 30 seconds after the Engine Start/Stop button is placed in the ACC or OFF position. However, if either front door is opened, the power windows cannot operate even during the 30-second period.

WARNING

To avoid serious injury or death, do not put your head, hands, or body out of the windows while driving.

✽ NOTICE

  • In cold and humid climates, the power windows may not operate properly due to freezing conditions.
  • While driving with the rear windows down or the sunroof (if equipped) open (or partially open), your vehicle may exhibit buffeting or pulsating noise. This noise is normal and can be reduced or eliminated by taking the following actions. If the noise occurs with one or both rear windows down, lower both front windows about one inch (2.5 cm). If you experience noise with the sunroof open, slightly close the sunroof.

Opening and Closing the Window

To open:

Press the window switch down to the first detent (5). Release the switch when you want the window to stop.

Closing:

Pull the power window switch up to the first detent (5). Release the switch when you want the window to stop.

Automatic Window Up/Down

Pushing or pulling the power window switch briefly to the second detent (6) fully lowers or raises the window, even if the switch is released. To stop the window at a desired position while it is moving, pull or push the switch and release it.

Resetting the Power Windows

If the power windows do not operate normally, the automatic window system must be reset as follows:

1. Place the Engine Start/Stop button in the ON position.

2. Close the window and continue pulling the window switch for at least one second.

If the power windows do not operate properly after resetting, have the system inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

Automatic Reverse

If the window detects an obstruction while closing automatically, it will stop and lower approximately 12 inches (30 cm) to allow the object to be cleared.

If the window detects resistance while the power window switch is held up continuously, the window will stop its upward movement, then lower approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm).

If the power window switch is pulled and held continuously again within 5 seconds after the window has been lowered by the auto up/down function, the auto reverse function will not operate.

✽ NOTICE

The auto reverse function is only active when the Auto Up function is used by fully pulling the switch to the second detent.

WARNING

Make sure body parts or other objects are safely clear of the window before closing it to avoid injury or vehicle damage.

Objects less than 0.16 in (4 mm) in diameter between the window glass and the upper window channel may not be detected by the auto reverse function, and the window will not stop and reverse direction.
