Wipers
Operates as follows when the engine Start/Stop button is in the ON position.
MIST: For a single wiping cycle, pull the lever up and release it. The wipers will operate continuously while the lever is held in this position.
OFF: The wiper does not operate.
AUTO: The rain sensor, located on the upper edge of the windshield, detects the amount of precipitation and controls the wiping cycle at the appropriate interval. The heavier the rain, the faster the wipers operate. When the rain stops, the wipers stop. To change the speed, turn the speed control knob (B).
LO: The wiper operates at low speed.
HI: The wiper operates at high speed.
✽ NOTICE
If there is heavy accumulation of snow or ice on the windshield, defrost the windshield for approximately 10 minutes, or until the snow and/or ice is removed, before using the windshield wipers and washers to ensure proper operation. If the snow and/or ice is not removed before using the wipers and washer, the wiper and washer system may be damaged.
AUTO (Automatic) Operation
The rain sensor located on the upper end of the windshield detects the amount of precipitation and controls the wiping cycle at the proper interval. The heavier the rain, the faster the wipers operate. When the rain stops, the wipers stop. To change the sensitivity setting, turn the speed control knob (B).
If the wiper switch is set to the AUTO position while the engine Start/Stop button is in the ON position, the wipers will operate once to perform a system self-check. Set the wiper switch to the OFF position when the wipers are not in use.
WARNING
To avoid injury from the windshield wipers when the engine is running and the wiper switch is in AUTO mode:
- Do not touch the upper edge of the windshield rain sensor cover.
- Do not wipe the upper end of the windshield with a wet or damp cloth.
- Do not apply pressure to the windshield.
CAUTION
- When washing the vehicle, set the wiper switch to the OFF position to stop automatic wiper operation. The wipers may operate and be damaged if the switch is in AUTO mode while the vehicle is being washed.
- Do not remove the sensor cover located on the upper end of the passenger side windshield. Damage to system parts may occur and may not be covered by your vehicle warranty.
