Do not recline

~1min read

Sitting in a reclined position while the vehicle is in motion can be dangerous.

Even when belted, the protection provided by the restraint system (seat belts and/or airbags) is significantly reduced by reclining the seatback.

The belts must lie comfortably across the hips and chest to work properly. In a crash, you may be thrown against the seat belt, causing neck or other injuries.

The more the seat is reclined, the greater the chance that an occupant's hips will slide under the lower part of the belt, or that the occupant's neck may be caught by the upper part.

WARNING - NEVER travel with the seatback reclined. - Traveling with the seatback reclined increases the risk of serious or fatal injury in a collision or sudden stop. - Drivers and passengers must always sit well back in the seat, properly belted, with the seatback upright.
