- Never shift the shift lever out of P (Park) or N (Neutral) into any other position while the accelerator pedal is depressed.
- Never shift the shift lever into P (Park) while the vehicle is moving.
- Stop the vehicle before attempting to shift the selector to R (Reverse) or D (Drive).
- Do not drive with the shift lever in N (Neutral). This may cause an accident due to loss of engine braking and may damage the transaxle.
- Do not rest your foot on the brake pedal. Light but constant pressure on the pedal may overheat the brakes, cause brake wear, and possibly brake failure.
- If you depress both the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time, engine power will be reduced to help slow the vehicle. Acceleration resumes after the brake pedal is released.
- When driving in sport mode, brake before downshifting. Otherwise, the lower gear cannot be engaged if the engine speed is outside the allowable range.
- When leaving the vehicle, always apply the parking brake. Shift to P (Park) so the vehicle does not roll.
- Be extremely careful when driving on slippery surfaces. Use particular caution when braking, accelerating, or shifting gears. On slippery surfaces, a sudden change in vehicle speed may cause the wheels to lose traction with the road surface, which may result in loss of vehicle control and an accident.
- Optimum performance and fuel economy are achieved by depressing and releasing the accelerator pedal smoothly.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH:
- ALWAYS wear your seat belt. In a crash, an unbelted passenger is far more likely to be seriously injured or killed than a properly belted passenger.
- Avoid high speeds when cornering or changing lanes.
- Do not make sudden steering maneuvers (abrupt lane changes or sharp, quick turns).
- The risk of rollover increases significantly if you lose control of your vehicle on the highway.
- Loss of control often occurs when two or more wheels leave the road, and if the driver steers too sharply to regain the road surface.
- If your vehicle leaves the road, do not steer sharply. Instead, brake gently before returning to the traffic lane.
- HYUNDAI recommends that you observe the posted speed limits.
