Driving Your Vehicle

Automatic Transmission Operation

~1min read

The high-efficiency automatic transaxle has four forward speeds and one reverse.

Gears are selected automatically in D (Drive).

WARNING

To reduce the risk of serious injury or death:

  • ALWAYS check what is around your vehicle (especially children) before shifting into D (Drive) or R (Reverse).
  • Before leaving the driver's seat, always make sure the shift lever is in P (Park), then apply the parking brake and turn the ignition key to LOCK/OFF. Risks of sudden and unexpected vehicle movement may occur if these precautions are not observed.
  • Do not use sudden engine braking (downshifting) on slippery roads. The vehicle may skid and cause an accident.

The shift lever position indicator on the instrument cluster shows the position of the shift lever. Shift gears only when the ignition key is in the ON position.
