Hazardous Driving Conditions

~1min read

When you encounter hazardous driving conditions such as water, snow, ice, mud or sand.

Drive carefully and allow extra braking distance.

Avoid sudden braking or turning.

If you are stuck in snow, mud or sand, use the second gear of the transmission. Accelerate slowly to avoid spinning the drive wheels.

WARNING

When driving on slippery surfaces, shifting to a lower gear with an automatic transmission may cause an accident. A sudden change in tire rotational speed may cause them to slip. Be careful when shifting to a lower gear on slippery surfaces.

Use sand, salt, or other non-slip materials under the wheels to provide traction when stuck on ice, snow, or mud.
