Description

The charging system consists of the battery, an alternator with a built-in regulator, the wiring, and the charge warning light. The alternator contains eight built-in diodes, whose function is to convert alternating current to direct current. Thus, direct current comes out of the alternator B terminal. In addition, the charging voltage of this alternator is regulated by the battery voltage detection system. The main components of the alternator are the rotor, stator, rectifier, brush capacitor, bearings and the V-ribbed belt pulley. The brush holder has a built-in electronic voltage regulator. Alternator Control System: The alternator control system controls the charging voltage setpoint to improve fuel economy and controls alternator charging under various operating conditions to keep the battery charged and protect it from overcharging. The ECM monitors the generated voltage per cycle, efficiency (charge, discharge and normal control) depending on battery conditions and vehicle operating conditions. The system controls load reduction during vehicle acceleration: the alternator load is reduced and the vehicle draws current from the battery. The system controls load during vehicle deceleration: the alternator load is increased and the battery is charged.
