Trailer Towing Maintenance

~1min read

Your vehicle requires more frequent maintenance when towing a trailer regularly. Important items to pay attention to include engine oil, automatic transmission fluid, wheel bearing grease and coolant. Brake condition should also be checked regularly. If you tow a trailer, it is recommended that you review these sections before starting your trip. Also do not forget to maintain the trailer and hitch. Follow the trailer maintenance schedule and check it periodically. It is advisable to check before each driving day. Very important: all nuts and bolts must be properly tightened.

NOTICE

To avoid damage to the vehicle:

  • Due to the higher load when using a trailer, overheating may occur on very hot days or when climbing a hill. If the temperature gauge indicates overheating, turn off the air conditioner and stop the vehicle in a safe place to allow the engine to cool.
  • When towing a trailer, check the automatic transmission fluid at shorter intervals.
  • If your vehicle is not equipped with air conditioning, it is recommended to install a condenser fan to improve engine performance when towing a trailer.
