Service Point Target Automatic Calibration (SPTAC)

This procedure provides a method to calibrate the camera by aligning the vehicle with a well-marked straight target road, preferably in good condition. The LDWS camera has a diagnostic trouble code "System Out of Calibration" set in case it fails to operate within specified tolerances. The LDWS is supplied as a service replacement. DTC "System Calibration Required/Variant Coding Error" determines whether the replacement part is delivered directly by the supplier.
  1. Target Selection Guidelines: The following conditions are required for successful completion of the task. LDWS Static Service Point Calibration Procedure:
    • The target surface (SST: 09890-3V100) must be perpendicular to the camera in horizontal and vertical orientation to maintain a maximum roll of 1°.
    • The target must be mounted on a rigid rear support to maintain flatness requirements.
    • The target must have reflective markings (not blurred or poorly painted) with no line-like features.
    • The target must be 30 cm wide and 100 cm high.
    • The target area must NOT have hatching patterns, crosses, or text labels near the target.
    • The target must be well lit for optimal operation using non-flickering lighting. No continuous shadows may be cast on the target.
  2. Service Point Automatic Calibration Procedure
    1. Check vehicle wheel alignment and tire pressure to ensure correct camera alignment to the "world" before calibration. The vehicle must be at nominal production condition when performing the calibration procedure.
    2. The windshield must be clean and checked with a screen printing tool so the camera is not blocked.
    3. The service technician connects the diagnostic connector and starts the vehicle. The camera module must not be activated by pressing a switch.
    4. The support calibration procedure may not operate correctly if a system-level fault is active.
    5. When working with a replacement ECU: the service technician initiates the SPTAC reset setting.
    6. The service technician aligns the vehicle to the target or the target to the vehicle.
      K. The lower edge of the target must be at a height of 90 cm ± 2 cm from the ground and aligned with the horizontal axis of the camera lens.
      b. The target is positioned along the longitudinal axis of the vehicle (centered) within ± 5 cm of the target center.
vs. The calibration target must be positioned at a distance of 10 cm.
    7. The technician must ensure target location and confirm the "OK" message on the diagnostic tool (GDS).
    8. Clear all DTCs.
    9. Turn ALL off and on.
