Situations in Which the Parking Assist System Should Not Be Used

~1min read

The Parking Assist System may not operate normally when:

  • The sensor is frozen.
  • The sensor is covered with foreign material, such as snow or water, or the sensor cover is blocked.

A malfunction of the Parking Assist System may occur when parking:

  • On uneven roads, such as dirt roads, gravel, bumps, or slopes.
  • Objects producing excessive noise, such as car horns, loud motorcycle engines, or truck air brakes, may also interfere with sensor operation.
  • In heavy rain or due to water spray.
  • Wireless transmitters or cellular phones are near the sensor.
  • The sensor is covered with snow.
  • Any equipment or accessories not installed at the factory, or if the height of the vehicle bumper has been changed or the sensor installation has been modified.

The detection range may be reduced if:

  • The outside air temperature is very high or low.
  • Objects less than 1 m (3.3 ft) and 14 cm (5.5 in) in diameter cannot be detected.

The following objects cannot be detected by the sensor:

  • Sharp or thin objects, such as ropes, chains, or small poles.
  • Objects that tend to absorb sensor frequency, such as clothing, sponge material, or snow.

Intelligent

The system may not recognize objects closer than 30 cm (12 in) from the sensor, or it may indicate an inaccurate distance.

NOTICE

Do not press, scratch, or strike the sensor with hard objects, as this may damage the sensor surface. Doing so may result in damage to the sensor.

WARNING

The new vehicle warranty does not cover accidents or damage to the vehicle or injuries to passengers related to the Parking Assist System. Always remain attentive and drive with caution.
