The Rear Parking Distance Warning (Reverse) system may malfunction if:
- Moisture has frozen on the sensor.
- The sensor is covered with dirt or debris, such as snow or ice, or the sensor cover is blocked.
The rear parking distance warning (reverse) system may malfunction when:
- Driving on uneven road surfaces such as dirt roads, gravel, bumps, or grades.
- Objects producing excessive noise, such as vehicle horns, loud motorcycle engines, or truck air brakes, may interfere with the sensor.
- Heavy rain or water spray is present.
- Wireless transmitters or mobile phones are located near the sensor.
- The sensor is covered with snow.
- Non-genuine equipment or accessories have been installed, or the bumper height or sensor installation has been changed.
The detection range may decrease if:
- The outside air temperature is very hot or cold.
- Undetectable objects smaller than 40 in. (1 m) in height and 6 in. (14 cm) in diameter.
The sensor may not detect the following objects:
- Sharp or thin objects, such as ropes, chains, or small poles.
- Objects that can absorb the sensor frequency, such as clothing, spongy material, or snow.
- The rear parking distance warning (reverse) system may operate erratically in some cases, depending on vehicle speed and the shape of detected objects.
- The rear parking distance warning (reverse) system may malfunction if the bumper height or sensor installation has been changed or damaged. Any non-genuine equipment or accessories may also affect sensor operation.
- The sensor may not detect objects within 15 in. (40 cm) of the sensor, or it may indicate an incorrect distance. Use caution.
- When the sensor is blocked by snow, dirt, debris, or ice, the rear parking distance warning (reverse) system may not operate until the snow or ice melts or the debris is removed. Use a soft cloth to wipe debris from the sensor.
- Do not press, scratch, or strike the sensor with hard objects, as this may damage the sensor surface. Damage to the sensor may occur.
- Do not spray the sensors or the area around them directly with a high-pressure washer. This may prevent the sensors from operating normally.
WARNING
The new vehicle warranty does not cover accidents, vehicle damage, or passenger injuries related to the rear parking distance warning (reverse) system. Always drive safely and carefully.
