Tire Rotation

~1min read

To equalize tread wear, HYUNDAI recommends rotating the tires every 7,500 miles (12,000 km) or sooner if wear is uneven.

During rotation, check the tire balance.

When rotating tires, check them for uneven wear and damage. Abnormal wear is usually caused by incorrect tire pressure, incorrect wheel alignment, wheel imbalance, hard braking, or sharp cornering. Look for bumps or bulges on the tread or sidewall. Replace the tire if you find any of these conditions. Replace the tire if the cords or fabric are visible. After rotation, be sure to adjust the front and rear tire pressures to specification and check the wheel nut tightening torque (correct torque 79~94 lbf·ft [11~13 kgf·m]).

Check disc brake pads for wear every time the tires are rotated.

Information

Tires that are asymmetrical or directional can only be installed on the wheel in one direction. The outside and inside of an asymmetrical tire are difficult to distinguish. Pay special attention to the markings on the tire sidewalls, noting the "outside" marking and the direction of rotation before installing them on the vehicle.

WARNING

  • Do not use the compact spare tire for tire rotation.
  • Never mix bias-ply and radial tires. This may cause unusual handling characteristics, which may result in loss of vehicle control and an accident.
