DCT Warning Messages
In this manual: Driving Your Vehicle
~2min read
This warning message is displayed when the vehicle is moving slowly on a slope and the vehicle detects that the brake pedal is not depressed.
Steep Slope

Driving uphill or on a steep slope:
- To hold the vehicle on a slope, use the foot brake or parking brake.
- When driving with frequent stops on a slope, allow a gap to form in front of you before moving forward. Then hold the vehicle on the slope with the foot brake.
- If the vehicle is held or moves forward on an incline using the accelerator pedal, the clutch and transmission may overheat, which may result in damage. In this case, a warning message will appear on the LCD display.
- If the LCD warning is active, you must apply the foot brake.
- Ignoring warnings may cause damage to the transmission.
High Transmission Temperature

- Under certain conditions, such as repeated starts with stops on steep slopes, sudden take-offs or acceleration, or other severe driving conditions, the temperature of the transmission clutch may increase excessively.
- When the clutch temperature becomes too high, the warning message "High Transmission Temperature! Stop Safely" will appear on the LCD display, a warning chime will sound, and gear shifting may not be smooth.
- In this case, stop in a safe place, stop the vehicle with the engine running, depress the brake pedal, shift the vehicle into P (Park), and allow the transmission to cool down.
- If you ignore this warning, driving conditions may deteriorate. Abrupt shifts, frequent shifting, or jerking may occur.
- When the message "Transmission Cooled Down. Continue Driving" appears, you may continue operating your vehicle.
- If possible, drive the vehicle smoothly.
Transmission Overheated

- If the vehicle continues to move and the clutch temperature reaches the maximum temperature limit, the "Trans Hot! Park with Engine On" warning will be displayed. When this occurs, the clutch is disengaged until it cools to normal temperature.
- The warning will display the transmission cooling wait time. • In this case, stop in a safe place, bring the vehicle to a stop with the engine running, apply the brake, shift the vehicle to P (Park), and allow it to cool.
- When the message "Trans Cooled. Continue Driving" appears, you may continue driving your vehicle. • If possible, drive the vehicle smoothly.
If any of the warning messages on the LCD display continues to flash, for your safety, we recommend that you contact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer and have the system checked.
