Pedestrian Detection
In this manual: Driving Your Vehicle
~2min read
The sensor may be limited when:
- A pedestrian is not fully recognized by the camera recognition system, for example, if the pedestrian is leaning or is not walking fully upright.
- The pedestrian moves very quickly or suddenly appears within the camera detection zone.
- The pedestrian is wearing clothing that easily blends with the background, making detection by the camera recognition system difficult.
- The external lighting is too bright (for example, when driving in bright sunlight) or too dark (for example, when driving on a dark rural road at night).
- It is difficult to detect a pedestrian and distinguish them from other objects in the surroundings, for example, when there is a group of pedestrians or a large crowd.
- There is an object resembling the shape of a human body.
- The pedestrian is small.
- The pedestrian has limited mobility.
- Sensor recognition is limited.
- The radar sensor or camera is blocked by a foreign object or debris
- Severe weather, such as heavy rain or snow, obstructs the field of view of the radar sensor or camera
- When light from a street lamp or an oncoming vehicle is reflected on a wet road surface, such as a puddle on the road.
- The forward field of view is restricted by sun glare.
- The windshield is fogged; a clear view of the road is obstructed.
- Adverse road conditions cause excessive vehicle vibration while driving.
WARNING
- Do not use the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system when towing a vehicle. Using the FCA system while towing may adversely affect the safety of your vehicle or the towing vehicle.
- Use extreme caution if the vehicle ahead is carrying a load that extends out from the rear of the vehicle, or if the vehicle ahead has a higher ground clearance.
- The FCA system is designed to detect and monitor a vehicle ahead or detect a pedestrian in the roadway using radar signals and camera recognition. It is not designed to detect bicycles, motorcycles, or small wheeled objects, such as luggage bags, shopping carts, or baby strollers.
- Never attempt to test the operation of the FCA system. This may result in serious injury or death.
- If the front bumper, windshield, radar, or camera has been replaced or repaired, we recommend that your vehicle be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Information
In some cases, the FCA system may be canceled due to electromagnetic interference.
