  11. Disconnect the MDPS ECU connectors (A), (B).
  12. Remove the MDPS unit by loosening the mounting nuts (A) and bolt (B). Tightening torque: (A): 25.0–29 N·m (B): 53.9–59 N·m
  13. Remove the motor (A) by loosening the bolts, then install a new one.

    Tightening torque: 6.9–10.8 N·m

  14. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  15. Perform "Motor Constant Value Input" using GDS by following the procedure below.
    1. Connect the self-diagnosis connector (16-pin), located in the lower panel on the driver's side, to the diagnostic device.
    2. Turn on the scan tool after turning the ignition switch ON.

  18. Turn the IGN switch OFF and wait 10 seconds or more. Then check operation after starting the engine.

Diagnosis with GDS

  • The steering angle sensor detects the steering wheel angle and steering wheel angular speed. The steering angle and steering speed are used for steering wheel damping and return control in addition to steering assist torque.

ASP Calibration Procedures

  1. Connect the self-diagnosis connector (16-pin), located in the lower panel on the driver's side, to the diagnostic device.
  2. Turn on the scan tool after turning the ignition switch ON.
  3. Turn the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position.
  4. After selecting "Vehicle Model" and "System", select "ASP Calibration" on the GDS vehicle selection screen.
  5. Clear the diagnostic trouble code.
  6. Turn the IG switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds before starting the engine. Then check that the MDPS operates correctly.
