Automatic Reverse

During powered opening and closing, if the power liftgate is blocked by an object or part of the body, the liftgate may detect resistance.
If resistance is detected while opening or closing the power liftgate, the liftgate will stop and move in the opposite direction.
However, in some cases the automatic reverse system may not detect an object if it is too soft or very thin, or if the liftgate is almost fully closed near the latched position. Take care to prevent any objects from interfering with the liftgate opening.
If the automatic reverse function activates more than 2 times while attempting to open or close the liftgate, the power liftgate may stop in that position. If this occurs, carefully close the liftgate manually, then try to operate the power liftgate again.
WARNING
Never intentionally place an object or part of your body in the path of the power liftgate to check that automatic reverse operates.
CAUTION
Do not place heavy objects on the liftgate before operating the power liftgate. The additional weight may damage system operation.
