System Maintenance

Cabin Air Filter

[A]: Outside air, [B]: Recirculated air
[C]: Climate control air filter, [D]: Blower fan
[E]: Evaporator core, [F]: Heater core

The cabin air filter is installed behind the glove box. It filters dust and other contaminants entering the vehicle through the heating and air conditioning system.

Replace the cabin air filter at an authorized HYUNDAI dealer according to the maintenance schedule. If the vehicle is operated under severe conditions, such as dusty or rough roads, and/or when transporting pets or when occupants smoke inside the vehicle, cabin air filter inspection and replacement may be required more frequently.

If the airflow volume decreases noticeably, the system should be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

Checking Air Conditioner Refrigerant Quantity and Compressor Lubricant

When the refrigerant amount is low, air conditioning performance is reduced. Overcharging also reduces air conditioning system performance.

Therefore, if abnormal operation is detected, consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer to inspect the system.

NOTICE

It is important that the correct type and amount of oil and refrigerant are used. Otherwise, damage to the compressor and abnormal system operation may occur.

WARNING

Because the refrigerant is under very high pressure, the air conditioning system should be serviced only by trained and certified technicians. It is important that the correct type and amount of oil and refrigerant are used, otherwise vehicle damage and personal injury may occur.

The air conditioning system should be serviced by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

Air Conditioner Refrigerant Label

The actual air conditioner refrigerant label in the vehicle may differ from the illustration.

Each symbol and specification on the air conditioning refrigerant label has the meaning shown below:

1. Refrigerant classification

2. Refrigerant quantity

3. Compressor Classification – Lubricant

Refer to Chapter 8 for more detailed information. Location of A/C refrigerant label.
