Be careful not to damage parts located under the vehicle (floor under cover, fuel filter, fuel tank, and canister) when lifting the vehicle with a lift. (Refer to General Information - Jack Lifting Points and Support Points)
To prevent damage, carefully disconnect the wiring connectors while holding the connector housing.
Label all wires and hoses to avoid incorrect connection.
Water Temperature Control Assembly
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the engine cover. (Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "Engine Cover")
Remove the air duct. (Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - Air Cleaner)
Disconnect the positive battery terminal.
Remove the air cleaner assembly. (Refer to Air Intake and Exhaust System - "Air Cleaner").
Remove the battery and battery tray. (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "Battery")
Remove the engine cover. (Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - Engine Cover)
Drain the engine coolant. (Refer to Cooling System - "Engine Coolant")
Disconnect the upper radiator hose (A).
Disconnect the radiator lower hose (A).
Disconnect the water temperature sensor connector (A).
Disconnect the connectors and clips of the control wiring harness, and remove the wiring harness protectors from the water temperature control assembly.
Disconnect the heater hoses (A).
Disconnect the ATF warmer hose (A).
Remove the water temperature control assembly (A).
Tightening torque: 19.6–24 N·m
Remove the gasket of the water temperature control assembly (A). [Left][RH]
Always use new gaskets.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
Fill the radiator with coolant. (Refer to Cooling System - Coolant)
Start the engine and check for leaks.
Recheck the coolant level.
Fill the engine coolant.
Fill the radiator and the coolant reservoir with engine coolant.
Bleed air from the cooling system.
Start the engine and let it run until it warms up (the radiator fan operates 3-4 times).
Turn off the engine. Check the radiator level and add coolant if necessary. This will release trapped air from the cooling system.
Tightly close the radiator cap, then restart the engine and check for leaks.
Before installing the water temperature control assembly, clean the battery posts and cable terminals with sandpaper and apply grease to the O-ring to prevent corrosion.
Water Outlet Pipe
Remove the water temperature control assembly.
Remove the expansion tank. (Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "Expansion Tank")
Remove the intake manifold. (Refer to Intake and Exhaust Systems — Intake Manifold)
Remove the water center pipe (A).
Tightening Torque: 9.8–11.8 N·m
Do not reuse the water pipe O-ring.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
