Coolant Replacement and Air Bleeding

|
- Make sure the engine and radiator are cold to the touch.
- Remove the radiator cap (A).

- Remove the engine cover. (Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - Engine Cover)
- Loosen the drain plug (A) and drain the coolant.

- Tighten the radiator drain plug securely.
- Remove, drain and reinstall the reservoir. Fill the tank halfway with water up to the MAX mark, then up to the MAX mark with antifreeze.
- Fill the radiator with water through the radiator cap and tighten the cap.

- To bleed air most effectively, slowly pour in water while squeezing the upper/lower radiator hoses.
- Start the engine and let it warm up to normal operating temperature. Wait until the cooling fan turns on 2-3 times. Rev the engine to help purge trapped air. Turn off the engine.
- Wait until the engine has cooled down.
- Repeat steps 1 through 8 until the drained water is clean.
- Slowly fill with a mixture of coolant and water (45-60%, or 45-50% in northern regions: America, Europe and China) through the radiator cap. Squeeze the upper/lower radiator hoses to easily release air.

- Use only the specified antifreeze/coolant.
- For best corrosion protection, the coolant concentration must be maintained year-round at a minimum of 45-60%. Coolant concentrations below 45-60% may not provide sufficient corrosion or freeze protection.
- A coolant concentration above 60% reduces cooling efficiency and is not recommended.

- Do not mix antifreezes/coolants of different brands.
- Do not use additional rust inhibitors or anti-corrosion products; they may be incompatible with the coolant.
- Start the engine and let it run until the coolant begins to circulate.
- When the cooling fan is operating and the coolant is circulating, add coolant through the radiator cap.
- Repeat step 11 until the cooling fan has cycled 3-5 times to bleed air from the cooling system.
- Install the radiator cap and fill the coolant reservoir to the "MAX" (or "F") line.
- Run the vehicle at idle until the cooling fan has cycled 2–3 times.
- Stop the engine and wait for the coolant to cool down.
- Repeat steps 10 through 15 until the coolant level stops dropping to bleed air from the cooling system.
Coolant capacity: approx. 12 L (3.16 US gal, 12.66 US qt, 10.54 Imp qt)
- Bleed air from the cooling system and refill coolant only after the coolant has completely cooled. After coolant replacement, recheck the coolant level in the reservoir 2-3 days later.
