Description and Operation
Description
The yaw rate and acceleration sensor is built into the Airbag Control Module (SRSCM). When the vehicle rotates about its vertical axis, the yaw rate sensor electronically detects the yaw rate from the change in vibration of the tuning fork element inside the yaw rate sensor. If the yaw rate reaches a specified value after vehicle yaw is detected, ESC control is activated again. The G-sensor detects the lateral G of the vehicle. A small element inside the sensor is attached to the deflecting arm of the G-sensor. The direction and magnitude of the lateral G applied to the vehicle can be determined from the electrostatic capacitance change caused by the lateral G.
Repair Procedures
Removal
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.

- Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least thirty seconds before starting work.
- Remove the floor console. (Refer to Body - "Floor Console")
- Lift the SRSCM connector lock and disconnect the connector.

- Remove the SRSCM mounting bolts (3) from the SRSCM, then remove the SRSCM.

- Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least thirty seconds before starting work.

Installation
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Perform the longitudinal G-sensor calibration in the S/W Management menu of the GDS.
Adjustment
As a guide to diagnostic procedures using the diagnostic device, the main contents are as follows:- Connect the 16-pin diagnostic connector located in the lower part of the driver side trim panel to the scan tool, then turn on the scan tool after turning the ignition key ON.
- On the GDS vehicle selection screen, select "Model" and "ABS/ESP", then select OK. [Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor Calibration]
