Your Vehicle's Safety System
Side Airbags (if equipped)
In this manual: Your Vehicle's Safety System
~1min read

Your vehicle is equipped with a side airbag for each front seat.
The purpose of the airbags is to enhance the protection provided by the seat belts for the driver and front passenger.
The side airbags are designed to deploy only in certain side collisions, depending on the severity, angle, speed, and point of impact.
The side airbags are not designed to deploy in all side collisions.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious injury or death from side airbag deployment, observe the following precautions:
- All vehicle occupants must be properly secured with seat belts.
- Do not allow passengers to lean their head or body against the door, rest their arms on the doors, extend their arms out of the windows, or place objects between the doors and seats.
- Hold the steering wheel at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions to reduce the risk of arm and hand injuries.
- Do not use seat covers. Seat covers may reduce or eliminate the effectiveness of the system.
- Do not place objects on the airbag or between yourself and the airbag.
- Do not place objects between the door and the seat. They may become dangerous projectiles if the side airbags deploy.
- Do not install accessories on the side of the vehicle or near the side airbags.
- Avoid striking the doors with the ignition ON. You risk deploying the side airbags.
- If the seat is damaged, we recommend having the system inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
