Starting and Stopping the Engine on Models Equipped with a Turbocharger
1. Do not increase engine speed or accelerate immediately after starting. If the engine is cold, let it idle for a few seconds to lubricate the turbocharger.
2. After driving at high speed or after prolonged driving under heavy engine load, let the engine idle for about 1 minute before turning it off. This allows the turbocharger to cool down before the engine is stopped.
NOTICE
Do not turn off the engine immediately after heavy use. You may seriously damage the engine or turbocharger.
NOTICE
To avoid damage to the vehicle:
- If the engine stalls while the vehicle is moving, do not try to shift the gear selector lever to P (Park). If road and traffic conditions allow, shift the gear selector lever to N (Neutral) while the vehicle is moving and press the ENGINE START/STOP button to try to restart the engine.
- Do not try to push or tow the vehicle to start the engine.
NOTICE
To avoid damage to the vehicle:
Do not press the ENGINE START/STOP button for more than 10 seconds, unless the stop lamp fuse has blown.
In this case, you will not be able to start the engine normally. Replace the fuse. If you cannot replace the fuse, you can start the engine by turning the ENGINE START/STOP button to ACC and holding it for 10 seconds.
For safety, always press the brake pedal before starting the engine.

Information
If the smart key battery is discharged or the smart key does not operate properly, you can start the engine by placing the smart key against the ENGINE START/STOP button as shown above.
