Electrochromic Mirror (ECM)

Some vehicles are equipped with an electrochromic mirror that helps control glare when driving at night or in low-light conditions.

With the engine running, the auto-dimming function is controlled automatically by a sensor installed in the rearview mirror. The sensor detects the ambient light level around the vehicle and automatically adjusts to control glare from the headlights of vehicles behind you.

Whenever the transmission is shifted into R (Reverse), the mirror automatically returns to maximum brightness to improve the rear view for the driver.
