This indicator light illuminates:

  • When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the MDPS warning light illuminates for approximately 3 seconds and then turns off.
  • Whenever a malfunction occurs in the motor-driven power steering system. If the MDPS warning light remains on while driving, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

This indicator light illuminates:

When there is a malfunction in the alternator or the charging system.

If there is a malfunction in the alternator or the charging system:

1. Drive carefully to the nearest safe location and stop the vehicle.

2. Turn the engine off and check the generator drive belt for looseness or damage.

If the belt is adjusted correctly, the problem may be in the electrical charging system.
