Tire Replacement

~2min read

If a tire is worn evenly, the tread wear indicator will appear as a solid band across the tread. This shows that less than 1/16 in (1.6 mm) of tread depth remains on the tire. In this case, replace the tire.

Do not wait until the band appears across the entire tread before replacing the tire.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY:

Replace worn, unevenly worn, or damaged tires. Worn tires can reduce braking, steering, and traction performance. Always replace tires with the same size as each tire originally supplied with this vehicle. Using tires and wheels of sizes different from the recommended sizes may cause unusual handling characteristics, poor vehicle control, or adversely affect your vehicle's Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), which may result in a serious crash. Tires deteriorate over time, even when not in use. Regardless of remaining tread, HYUNDAI recommends replacing tires after six (6) years of normal use. Heat from hot climates or frequent heavy loads can accelerate the aging process. Failure to observe this warning may cause sudden tire failure, which can result in loss of vehicle control and a crash.

Compact Spare Tire Replacement

The compact spare tire has a shorter service life than a regular-size tire. Replace it when the tread wear indicator bars appear on the tire.

A replacement compact spare tire must be the same size and design as the one supplied with your new vehicle, and must be installed on the same compact spare wheel. A compact spare wheel is not designed to be fitted with a regular-size tire, and a regular-size tire is not designed to be fitted on a compact spare wheel.

WARNING

The original tire must be repaired or replaced as soon as possible to avoid spare tire failure and loss of vehicle control, which may result in a crash. The compact spare tire is intended for temporary emergency use only. Do not drive the vehicle at speeds over 80 km/h when using the compact spare tire.
