Integrated Key Fob Frequency Button (FOBIK-Safe)
To minimize the possibility of accidentally locking the Passive Entry key fob inside the vehicle, the Passive Entry system is equipped with an automatic door unlock feature that operates only when the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
FOBIK-Safe works only in vehicles with START/STOP ignition. There are three situations that trigger a FOBIK-Safe search in any Passive Entry vehicle:
- Lock request made valid by passive entry fob with door open.
- Lock request made by passive entry door handle when door is open.
- Lock request made by door panel switch with door open.
When any of these conditions occurs, once all open doors are closed, the FOBIK safety search will be executed. If it finds a passive entry fob inside the vehicle, the vehicle will unlock and alert the customer. If passive entry is disabled using Uconnect, the key safety described in this section remains active/functional.
NOTE:
The vehicle unlocks doors during FOBIK safety operation only when an active passive entry fob is detected inside the vehicle. The vehicle does not unlock doors when any of the following conditions are true:
- A second active passive entry fob is detected outside the vehicle (within 5 ft (1.5 m) of the passive entry door handle).
- Doors are locked manually using the door lock handle.
- Three attempts to lock the doors are made using the door panel switch, and then the doors are closed.
