Jeep Wrangler. Installing Child Restraints Using The Top Tether Anchorage
  1. Look behind the seating position where you plan to install the child restraint to locate the tether anchor. You may need to move the seat forward to provide better access to the tether anchor. If there is no top tether anchor for that seating position, move the child restraint to another location in the vehicle, if available.
  2. Route the tether strap so that it provides the most direct path for the strap between the anchor and the child seat. If your vehicle is equipped with adjustable rear head restraints, raise the head restraint and, where possible, route the tether strap under the head restraint and between the two posts. If this is not possible, lower the head restraint and route the tether strap around the outside of the head restraint.

  4. Attach the child restraint tether strap hook to the top tether anchor as shown in the illustration.
  5. Remove the slack from the tether strap in accordance with the child restraint manufacturer's instructions.
  • An improperly anchored tether strap may result in increased head movement and possible injury to the child. Use only the tether anchor position directly behind the child seat for the top tether strap of the child restraint.
  • If your vehicle is equipped with a split rear seatback, make sure the tether strap does not slip into the gap between the seatbacks while removing slack from the strap.
