  1. Park on a hard, level surface. Avoid ice or slippery areas.
  2. Turn on the hazard warning flashers.
  3. Apply the parking brake.
  4. Place the automatic transmission in PARK (P) or the manual transmission in REVERSE (R).
  5. Turn the ignition OFF.
  6. Block the front and rear wheel diagonally opposite the jacking position. For example, if the front driver-side wheel is being changed, block the rear passenger-side wheel.
