Tire Replacement

~2min read

The tires on your new vehicle provide a balance of many characteristics. They should be checked regularly for wear and correct cold tire inflation pressure. FCA strongly recommends using tires equivalent to the original equipment in size, quality, and performance when replacement is required. Refer to the paragraph "Tread Wear Indicators" in this section. See the section "Tires and Loading." Vehicle Certification Label or Tire and Loading Information Label shows your tire size. The Load Index and Speed Symbol for your tire can be found on the sidewall of the original equipment tire.

For additional information on the Load Index and Speed Symbol of the tire.

It is recommended to replace two front tires or two rear tires as a pair. Replacing only one tire may seriously affect your vehicle's handling. If ever replacing a wheel, make sure the wheel specifications match those of the original wheels.

We recommend contacting an authorized tire dealer or original equipment dealer with any questions you may have regarding tire specifications or performance. Using a non-equivalent tire replacement may adversely affect the safety, handling and ride quality of your vehicle.

  • Do not use a tire, wheel size, load capacity or speed rating other than that specified for your vehicle. Some combinations of unapproved tires and wheels may change the dimensions and suspension performance characteristics, resulting in altered steering, handling and braking of your vehicle. This may lead to unpredictable handling and overloading of the steering and suspension components. You may lose control and have a collision resulting in serious injury or death. Use only tires and wheel sizes with a load capacity approved for your vehicle.
  • Never use a tire with a lower load index or speed rating than the original equipment installed on your vehicle. Using a tire with a lower load index may result in tire overloading and failure. You may lose control and have a collision.
  • Failure to equip your vehicle with tires having adequate speed capability may result in sudden tire failure and loss of vehicle control.
