TPMS Inspection Method

Inspection

Find the control number by referring to the table above. The following content is not related to the inspection procedure.
  1. Types of Warning Lights
    • Steady illumination: Low tire pressure warning light
    • Constantly flashing at 0.5-second intervals: Initial state indicator lamp
    • Cluster flashes for 1 minute at 1-second intervals, then illuminates: DTC warning lamp
Turn it off, and then turn it on again to check the type of warning light.
  2. (1) Check the condition of the warning light.
    • Check the condition of the vehicle warning light.
    • Check whether the warning light condition is caused by low tire pressure.
      Symptom: Illuminates steadily.
  3. (2) Check the condition of the warning light.
    • Check the condition of the vehicle warning light.
    • Check whether the warning lamp condition is caused by the initial state (initial mode) of the TPMS receiver.
Symptom: Flashes constantly at 0.5-second intervals.
  4. (3) Check the condition of the warning light.
    • Check the condition of the vehicle warning light.
    • Check whether the warning lamp condition is caused by a DTC (TPMS receiver and TPMS sensor malfunction). Symptom: Cluster flashes for 1 minute at 1-second intervals, then illuminates.
  5. Low tire pressure warning lamp. Cold: vehicle stopped for more than 60 minutes. → Additionally inflate 0.07 kgf/cm² (1.0 psi) above the specified tire pressure. Hot: vehicle driven → Additionally inflate 0.28 kgf/cm² (4.0 psi) above the specified tire pressure.
If the warning lamp does not go off after inflating the tire pressure, turn off the cruise control and drive less than 1 km at a speed of 25 km/h.
  6. Inspect the initial state warning light
    A. TPMS warning lamp (1). Check the TPMS warning lamp condition. (2) Constantly flashes at 0.5-second intervals. -> Initial state indicator lamp
Turn it off, then turn it on again to check the type of warning lamp.
    B. Items to check when the warning lamp (1) flashes. Enter the sensor ID (2). Enter the vehicle name (3). Enter the VIN (4). Change the TPMS ECU mode to standard mode. (Refer to TPMS Receiver - Repair Procedures)

    • Be sure to check DTCs. (Refer to Tire Pressure Monitoring System Diagnostic Trouble Code Manual)
    • If the TPMS warning lamp does not illuminate: the TPMS receiver periodically learns the sensor during driving.
    • If the TPMS warning light illuminates: Replace the TPMS sensor or TPMS receiver.
