Emergency Stop Signal (ESS)
The Emergency Stop Signal system warns drivers behind by flashing the brake lights when the vehicle brakes suddenly and sharply. The system is activated when:
- The vehicle stops suddenly (vehicle speed is above 55 km/h and the vehicle decelerates at more than 7 m/s²)
- ABS is activated
When the vehicle speed is below 40 km/h and the ABS is deactivated or the sudden stop situation has ended, the brake lights flashing will stop. Instead, the hazard warning flasher will turn on automatically.
The hazard warning flasher will turn off when the vehicle speed exceeds 10 km/h after the vehicle has stopped. In addition, it will turn off when the vehicle travels at a low speed for a certain period of time. You can also turn it off manually by pressing the hazard warning flasher switch.
CAUTION
The Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) will not operate if the hazard warning flasher is already on.
