Fuses

The vehicle's electrical system is protected from electrical overload damage by fuses.
This vehicle has 3 (or 4) fuse panels, one of which is located on the driver's side instrument panel, and the others in the engine compartment near the battery.
If any lights, accessories, or controls on your vehicle do not operate, check the corresponding circuit fuse. If a fuse has blown, the element inside the fuse will be melted.
If the electrical system does not operate, first check the fuse panel on the driver's side.
Always replace a blown fuse with a fuse of the same rating. Before replacing a blown fuse, disconnect the negative battery cable.
If the replacement fuse blows again, this indicates an electrical problem. Avoid using the affected system, and we recommend that you contact an authorized Kia dealer.
Three types of fuses are used: blade type for lower current ratings, cartridge type, and multi-fuse type for higher current ratings.
WARNING - Fuse Replacement
- Never replace a fuse with anything other than a fuse of the same rating.
- A fuse with a higher rating may cause damage and fire.
- Never install wire or aluminum foil in place of a proper fuse, even as a temporary repair. This may cause severe wiring damage and fire.
- Do not modify or add to the vehicle's electrical wiring without authorization.
CAUTION
Do not use a screwdriver or any other metal object to remove fuses, as this may cause a short circuit and damage the system.
✽ NOTICE
The actual fuse/relay panel label may differ from the equipped components.
CAUTION
- When replacing a blown fuse or relay, make sure the new fuse or relay is fully seated in its terminals. An incompletely installed fuse or relay may cause damage to the wiring and electrical systems of the vehicle, and may also cause a fire.
- Do not remove fuses, relays, and terminals that are secured with bolts or nuts. Fuses, relays, and terminals may not be fully secured, which may result in a possible fire. If fuses, relays, or terminals secured with bolts or nuts have blown, we recommend contacting an authorized Kia dealer.
- Do not insert any objects other than fuses or relays into the fuse/relay terminals, such as a screwdriver or wire. This may result in poor contact and system malfunction.
- Do not connect screwdrivers or non-original wiring to the terminals, which are designed only for fuses and relays. The electrical system and internal wiring of the vehicle may be damaged or burned due to poor contact.
Replacing an Inside Panel Fuse

1. Turn the ignition switch and all other switches off.
2. Open the fuse panel cover.

3. Remove the suspect fuse. Use the fuse puller provided in the fuse block in the engine compartment.
4. Inspect the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown.
5. Insert a new fuse of the same rating and make sure it is fully seated in the clips.
If it does not seat fully, we recommend contacting an authorized Kia dealer.
If you do not have a spare fuse, use a fuse of the same rating from a circuit that you may not need to operate the vehicle, such as the cigar lighter fuse. If the headlights, fog lights, turn signal lights, parking lights, or interior lights do not work and the bulbs are good, we recommend consulting an authorized Kia dealer.
Fuse Switch

Always keep the fuse switch in the ON position.
If you move the switch to the OFF position, some items such as the audio and digital clock must be reset, and the transmitter (or smart key) may not operate properly.
CAUTION
- Always set the fuse switch to the ON position while driving the vehicle.
- Do not repeatedly move the fuse switch. The fuse switch may be worn.
✽ NOTICE
If you need to leave the vehicle unused for more than 1 month, move the fuse switch to the OFF position to prevent battery discharge.
Engine Room Fuse Panel Fuse Replacement

1. Turn the ignition switch and all other switches off.
2. Remove the fuse panel cover by pressing the tab and pulling the cover upward. When the blade-type fuse is disconnected, remove it using the fuse puller intended for replacing fuses located in the engine compartment fuse block. After removal, securely insert a spare fuse of the same rating.
3. Inspect the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown. To remove or insert a fuse, use the fuse puller in the fuse block in the engine compartment.
4. Insert a new fuse of the same rating and make sure it is fully seated in the clips. If it does not seat fully, we recommend contacting an authorized Kia dealer.
CAUTION
After inspecting the engine compartment fuse block, securely reinstall the fuse block cover. Otherwise, power supply failures may occur due to water leakage.
Main Fuse

If the main fuse is blown, remove it as follows:
1. Turn off the engine.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the nuts shown in the illustration above.
4. Replace the fuse with a new one of the same rating.
5. Reinstall in the reverse order of removal.
CAUTION
Visually inspect the battery compartment cover to make sure it is securely closed. If the battery compartment cover is not securely closed, the electrical system may be damaged by moisture entering the system.
Multi Fuse

If the multi fuse is blown, remove it as follows:
1. Turn off the engine.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the fuse panel on the right side of the engine compartment.
4. Remove the nuts shown in the illustration above.
5. Replace the fuse with a new one of the same rating.
6. Install in the reverse order of removal.
✽ NOTICE
If a multi-fuse or main fuse has blown, we recommend contacting an authorized Kia dealer.
